What do cool cities like Memphis, Chicago, San Francisco have in common?

They have higher murder rates than Limerick City. Not to mention New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. There are some U.S. cities with rates over seven times higher than the 7 per 100,000 rate quoted by the scaremongering Sunday Independent. We wouldn't even make the U.S. Top 40. Don't believe me?
