Somewhere between Muslims and Scientologists
Atheists took a beating in last month's U.S. religious poll. I know Americans are really religious, but Damn I thought we'd beat the Muslims! Anyone can beat Scientologists, that doesn't even count.
I'm also quite surprised that only 4% of the sample had negative views of Jewish people–somehow I thought anti-Semitism was rife–but apparently they're just as uninteresting as the Methodists. Maybe they're getting a spin-off from the whole anti-Arab thing. Who'd have guessed that anti-Baptist sentiment was so strong at 10%?
Still, with 54% positive/neutral, I would venture that our numbers are a lot better than 10 years ago.
Personally, I'd love to see a similar poll for Ireland, if anyone wants to do the research.
