Scientology's founder, summed up neatly

People who say Scientology is not a religion are wrong. They have too high a standard for religions.

Religions are like living organisms: they react to threats in a hostile manner; they will stop at nothing to defeat an enemy; and they are secretive about their methods. From the Crusades through the Spanish Inquisition, to today when we witness clashes between Isreal and Palistine, between Sunni and Shi'ite factions, and between a thousand other warring cults–simply because of their 'religious differences'.

The irony is that all religions amount to the same belief: There are fairies at the bottom of the garden, but we can't prove it. Scientology is no different. They have Xenu and the Galactic Confederacy, Operating Thetans, and Targs.

They also have Auditing Process R2-45.

R2-45 is an effective method for cleansing someone by 'exteriorising' a person's Thetan soul. The method is simple. you put a gun to their head and pull the trigger. Thus, R2-45 was Hubbard's code for assassination, which also served to assuage the doubts of the faithful about whether it was kosher to shoot someone in the head.

As recognised religion has its honour killings, so Scientology has its 'exteriorisation' practices.

Welcome to the club.
