Let us call a truce to terror

This endless Orwellian 'War on Terror' is worse than absurd. As has been often opined, how can you wage war on an abstract noun? By definition it can neither be touched nor seen. What's next, the 'War on Failure'?

I watched yet another interesting JFK conspiracy documentary the other day, this time linking G.H.W.Bush centrally to the events of November 22, 1963. Very convincing, I must say.

As has been noted here before, his son, the current lame duck incumbent of the Oval Office, speaks of war and peace in terms that are diametrically opposed to the late J.F.K.

"You are either with us or you are against us in the fight against terror. We cannot let our enemies strike first." "I'm a war president–I make decisions here in the Oval Office in foreign policy matters with war on my mind." "It is a ridiculous notion to assert that because the United States is on the offense, more people want to hurt us. We are on the offense because people do want to hurt us." – George W.Bush, various occasions.

What a stark contrast with the thoughts of John F. Kennedy

"Let us call a truce to terror. Let us invoke the blessings of peace. And as we build an international capacity to keep peace, let us join in dismantling the national capacity to wage war." – J.F.K addressing the U.N. in 1961
