Pallin' around with Palin
I remember a world that had no idea Elton John was gay. Seriously. No-one I knew ever said it, or as far as I'm aware even thought it.
In a similar way, I now look forward to the day when this is all over and people can look back and say 'What the hell were we thinking? Sarah Palin?!?'
As you may know, Sarah Palin recently accused Barack Obama of 'palling around with terrorists.' Sounds shocking I'll admit, but by her criteria it's a charge that can easily be levelled at the entire Northern Assembly–since they interact daily with Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, a former IRA leader.
I won't bore you with the minor details of Obama's relationship with Bill Ayers (the WSJ has a detailed piece) but I will just point out that Ayers is now a Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois and is a former Chicago Citizen of the Year (1997).
I'll repeat that:
Did you hear that Ms. Palin? Not only is Ayers a reknowned academic and social reformer, but he was chosen from a city of 10 million people (15 times more populous than Alaska by the way!) to receive their most presigious humanitarian award.
Sounds like his resumé is a lot better than yours.
In four years time political candidates could well face embarrassment if it is ever revealled that they once 'palled around with Sarah Palin.'
