Mea Maxima Culpa et Negligentia

Mea Maxima Culpa et Negligentia

Never again! I promise!
Having been recently hoisted on a long petard of my own making [see Lame Duck article], I thought I might make mention of one Martin Eisenstadt, a fake blogger and political personage that had the mainstream media completely fooled.

I guffawed greedily when I heard that Sarah Palin hadn't known that Africa was a continent. It seemed plausible enough, as the story was leaked by an anonymous McCain campaign advisor.

I also was delighted to discover that Joe the Plumber was a nephew of Charles Keating, for whom the Keating Five were named.

Both of these 'facts' I gleefully repeated to Bock in the pub, and thankfully neither of us wrote about them.

It turns out that the invented character of Eisenstadt was perpetrating some kind of performance art hoax.

But I'm in good company here, MSNBC, Fox News, the L.A. Times all fell for Eisenstadt's nonsense.

Let's all of us in the Blogosphere promise to fact-check each other more thoroughly in future.

Meanwhile, I have it on good authority that Obama is one of the Elders of Zion.
